Core Process: Prepare → Assess → Certify → Improve → Renew
The Core Process
The SCS Framework isn’t a one-off assessment — it’s a structured improvement cycle designed to help your organisation build capability over time. Whether you’re just starting or targeting Gold-level recognition, this five-phase process provides a repeatable roadmap for progress.
It’s not a one-time assessment. It’s a cycle of growth.

The SCS Improvement Cycle
Every organisation moves through the cycle at its own pace. The structure stays consistent, but how you engage with it can flex to fit your goals, resources, and timing.
1. Prepare
Get familiar with the SCS Framework and your improvement options. Choose a starting point — a pillar or the Baseline Maturity Assessment (BMA) — and begin building a picture of your current position.
2. Assess
Complete your assessment using the SCS maturity criteria. Enter scores, add supporting evidence (where required), and explore the automated recommendations that follow.
3. Certify
If you’re seeking recognition, submit your assessment for moderation. You’ll receive a certification outcome at Bronze, Silver, or Gold based on your scores and evidence.
NB: For certain pathways like ESG, bronze certification can be achieved without the need for moderation. Visit each pathway section for more details.
4. Improve
Use your results to guide practical action. Close gaps, build on strengths, and apply the tools and templates in the Knowledge Base to support delivery.
5. Renew
Revisit your assessment when you’re ready — typically after 12 months. Track your progress, update your scores, and continue the cycle to keep moving forward.
From Assessment to Momentum
This cycle is what makes the SCS Framework more than a benchmark. It gives your organisation a practical engine for continuous improvement — backed by tools, guidance, and sector recognition at every step.
